Officially founded in February 1961, the Faculty of Medicine at the University of Sherbrooke is a French-speaking institution. It admitted its first students in September 1966. The Faculty opened two outside campuses in September 2006 and offers its whole MD program in a distributed approach. The first is located in Saguenay, the central city of Quebec peripheral region. The second one is located in Moncton, the central French speaking city in the province of New Brunswick. Students complete the program either in the central campus in Sherbrooke (144-148 admitted students,) or in Moncton (24 students,) or in Saguenay (24 students).
